The Twilight saga actors in Brazil

The Twilight saga stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are here in Brazil to record a scene of the new movie Breaking Down.

The scenes are being recorded in Rio de Janeiro and also in Paraty. They are about Edward and Bella's honeymoon and they spend it in an island.

The scenes are going to last only 5 minutes in the movie. However the brazilians fans are enthusiastic about it.

Eat,pray and love

The movie Eat, pray and love is directed by Ryan Hurphy. It is about Liz Gilbert (Julia Roberts) a typical woman. She had a husband, a house, a successful career. But she was not happy, so she got divorced and decided to change her life.

She wanted to look for something really valuable in life and she decided to seek for self -

knowledge and new experiences.

On September 18th, the students had a special

Justin Bieber

Justin Drew Bieber was born on March, 1st 1994.

Justin Bieber is a singer of pop and R&B Canadian.

His presentations were seen on Youtube by Scooter Braun who eventually became his manager.

Braun took Bieber to Atlanta , Georgia, to talk to Usher and he soon signed a contract with Island Records, where he began his professional career.

Mr. Fisk's Birthday

Happy Birthday!

Richard Hugh Fisk or Mr. Fisk celebrated his birthday on September, 3rd.

Now he is 88 years old.

Mr. Fisk is known and admired because of his big contribution, creating a great method to teach English.

The first Fisk school was created in July, 1958 in São Paulo. Since that, many Fisk schools have appeared in Brazil and other countries. There are around 930 Fisk schools around the world.

It's a pleasure to work and study here.

FISK STUDENTS AT PLAYCENTER!!!

Next Saturday (September,18th), the students will spend a day at Playcenter.

Students from a lot of Fisk schools will participate in this national event.

Every year, the Fisk schools in Brazil take the students to have fun either in Playcenter or Hopi Hari. It is a very nice opportunity to know students from different places, make new friends and have fun.

TABLE GAME

Do you want to pratice the numbers in English?

We have a very funny way to memorize the numbers and to practice the correct pronunciation.

At Fisk, the students can take part in a nice competition called "Table Game".

The objective is to practice the numbers in English. No matter if you like numbers or not, it is necessary to pronounce correctly.

All the students participated in the 1st phase, now we are going to have the 2nd and 3rd phase.

FISK PROJECTS

At Fisk the students developed some projects such as Video, Blog, and Theater.

The Video project was developed by teacher Pricilla and her students.

The Theater was developed by teacher Mariana and the students presented "Alice in Wonderland''. It was very nice!

The Blog was composed by teacher Vanessa and four students. We worked during the semester and the result was very good.

All the students can participate in such programs. It is a good opportunity to practice your English and exercise your creativity.

Camp Rock 2 - The new Disney film

Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam is the sequel to the Disney Channel original movie: Camp Rock.

The film production began on September 3 (2009) and ended on October 16, 2009.

The new Camp Rock 2 movie was filmed at Camp Wanakita in Haliburton, Ontario and Kilcoo camp in Minden, Ontario.



This sequel to the Camp Rock movie storyline follows Mitchie Torres (Demi Lovato), Shane Gray (Joe Jonas), Jason (Kevin Jonas), Nate (Nick Jonas) and their friends, as they return to Camp Rock for another great summer of music an fun, and a lot of things will happen.



Camp Rock is supposed to be released in September in the USA.

The soundtrack will be released in July/August.

The Jonas Brothers are going on tour with a special guest: Demi Lovato!

Diski Dance

The Diski Dance is the official dance of the World Cup and everybody is trying to learn it.

The Diski Dance is formed by a series of choreographed soccer moves, it causes excitement at home and abroad.

Diski Dance was created specifically for the upcoming World Cup 2010. And just like the games, the Disk Dance is rhythmic.

At FISK we had an activity about the Challenge Day and our big challenge was to dance together.

We learmed the soccer passes in English and practiced the exercises. It was very funny.

Mcfly Band

It is a pop rock band that achieved fame in 2004.

The band was formed when Tom Fletcher participated in a test to the band Busted.He did not pass, after that he joined the group and formed the band.They are:Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd.



The first CD was "Room on the 3rd floor" and the first video clip was "5 colours in her hair".



The most famous songs are: Lies and Falling in Love among other big success.

World Cup 2010

The 2010 FIFA World Cup will be the 19th FIFA World Cup, the premier international soccer tournament.
This will be the first time that the tournament has been hosted by an African nation.
The games will begin on June,11th. Brazil's first game will be on June,15th taking part of group G.
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced Brazil's preliminary group for the World Cup in South Africa.23 players have made the provisional cut.
The CBF will also release details of further seven "reserves" later. Brazil will begin training in Curitiba in this month and Dunga has until June 1st to finalize the 23 players he'll be taking to the World Cup.

Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland is the new movie from Tim Burton , based on the classic written by Lewis Carroll.

In the U.S.A, the movie was released on March, 5th (2010) and in Brazil, on April, 23rd.

The story is about Alice, a nineteen-year old-girl. She is in a party in Oxford until she realizes someone will ask to marry her .

She got desperate and ran away following the white rabbit to the Wonderland.

Until now "Alice" has collected more than U$875 Million Worldwide according to a website.

The movie became the most successful film in "Animation" in Disney history,the third greatest movie of Disney and the most successful movie in "animation" of all times.

The cast is formed by: Alice (Mia Wasikiewska), White Rabbit (Michael Sheen), The Cheshire cat (Stephen Fry), Hatter (Johnny Depp) and others.

The soundtrack was composed by Danny Elfman.The theme song is "Alice" by Avril Lavigne.

The Spelling Bee Contest

It is a traditional contest in the USA. At Fisk, the students have a Splelling Bee competition and everybody can participate. According to them, the Spelling Bee Contest helps to learn new words and practice the pronunciation.

It is interesting to know the orign of the words and the different sounds.

This year, all the Fisk students participated. Each class had a "winner" or representative.

The Last Song

"The last song" is a film with Miley Cyrus. The trailer was shown at Fisk. We did some activities about the movie. A lot of teenagers like Miley Cyrus, others not so much. But it is always good to watch a movie or trailer to learn new words, pronunciation and expressions.

The movie is a drama and it tells a story about a 17-year-old girl whose parents got divorced and her father moved to a small beach town.

The movie was supposed to be released on April, 2nd.

Until now, the movie has gotten U$ 42 millions and it has been a success among teenagers.

Cirque du Soleil - Quidam

Cirque du Soleil = "Circus of Sun"

Cirque du Soleil was founded in 1984 by two former street-artists, called Guy Laliberté and Daniel Gauthier.

They made up their minds about not having circus’ ring and animals on the shows to bring the viewer closer to the performer.
The Cirque du Soleil has been described as a modern circus, full of stories and astonishing performances.
This company has many shows traveling around the world with different themes and teams, and others in permanent places.



This year, we´re having in Brazil a Cirque du Soleil presentation called Quidam.
“Quidam” comes from Latin and It’s pronounced “key-dam”.
It means an anonymous passerby, a solitaire figure in any street. Someone who goes by quickly and feels lonely in the middle of the crowd.
The Creation’s Director, Franco Dragone, walked by New York streets when he realized
something strange and very common at the same time: people don’t look at each other!
Quidam’s objective goes beyond entertainment and leisure: It’s to make human-beings reconnect, respect, show interest, and look at each other.
This show celebrates the person who, inside each one of us, shouts, sings and dances.
The are four brazilian artists on Quidam´s team: Denise Wal, Gracilene Oliveira de Moura, Rafael Munhoz e Jailton Carneiro.

BEHIND THE SCENES
• Show’s figurine has about 1000 items including clothes, shoes, hats and wigs.
• They repair all the items that need to be fixed after every show.
• The Wigs are made with true hair and in the shape of the artist’s head. There is a custom assistent to take care of them.
• Everything is very neat and organized by artist’s name.

OSCAR 2010

The 2010 Oscars had a lot of great movies and great surprises.

The biggest of them, indeed, was the fact that "Avatar"(James Cameron) lost the award of best movie, and to whom? Katryn Bigelow's "The Hurt Locker", that is already a surprise, but Cameron's disappointment was even bigger because Bigelow is his ex wife! She also won as best director.

Of course, as expected, Avatar got awards like best sound and special effects.

As the best actor, the expectation was right and Cristoph Walts, staring as a soldier, got the oscar.

Sandra Bullock won by best actress, Bullock has a great talent to all kinds of roles, since comedy to dramas. She deserved it.
